I Know He Is

We may not know why we face certain things in life, but we know He Is! Jesus Is in control and is working all for our good. Last Sunday night in a Mississippi church, I was part of a special service held to honor two members of the congregation who will be leaving for Iraq in a couple of weeks. They will be away from their sweet wives and babies for over a year. I sat on the stage and with tears in my eyes watched the children cry and hug their daddies and the daddies cry with their wives. I was touched and thankful for the church body surrounding them, wrapping them in loving prayers and promises of care. Then it hit me…a sweet assurance that we may not know the future may hold, but we know He IS. He is faithful. He is victorious. He is alive. He IS! Just knowing that He is everywhere brings peace.

Never Ending Supply

When I think about God preserving and providing, I think of Naomi.(Ruth 1) God loved her so much He used a foreign woman and a forgotten relative to provide and redeem her…even though she doubted, even though she was bitter. God had a field for Ruth! And it was also for Naomi. God is ALL about meeting our needs! That is what He WANTS to do! I firmly believe that He LOVES to bless us…the barrel will NOT run dry because He will be faithful to pour and pour and pour into our lives from His never ending supply!! Phil 4:19

Nothing But Good!

God is up to nothing but good! The Word says that he will withhold no good thing and that He does ALL things well. It also says that He will perform that GOOD thing that He has promised. Good in a bad land…Good in a dark place..Good in a hopeless situation. He’s all about it! While you’re standing in the valley of confusion remember Romans 8:28-He works ALL things for GOOD according to His purpose! He’s a GOOD God!

Matter Of Time

easter

We had a great Easter with family and friends on Sunday! We were also so thankful to be a part of the Easter drama at “Temple of Praise” in Lucedale,MS. What a powerful service! He lives!

1 Chronicles 11:1-3
1. Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we [are] thy bone and thy flesh. 2. And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou [wast] he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel. 3. Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.

1 Chronicles 12:22

For at [that] time day by day there came to David to help him, until [it was] a great host, like the host of God.

When God anoints you for leadership, he makes sure you have everything that you need to fight the battles that will occur. I found this encouraging passage about exactly how David’s army came together. I thought, “Isn’t that just like the Lord?” He makes provision for His anointed. He makes sure you have a strong faith and belief system to get the job done! Day by day help came to David. God built his army. God provided the men who would stand and fight with David. They came to him!! Even as David was pursued by Saul, he had already been anointed to be King. It was only a matter of time. God’s timing. And when the time was right, and the people recognized that the Lord was with David, they pledged themselves not just to David, but to the Lord. If God has called you, let him help you. Let him build you an army. If you are waiting, never doubt your anointing, but do justly, love mercy ,and walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8) It’s a matter of time.

Jesus Stood Still

Mark 10:46-52….. And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.  And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, [thou] Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, [Thou] Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.  And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Jesus stood still. He stood still after hearing the cries of a blind beggar. A reject, an outcast, a hopeless individual. His lot in life was to depend on one who might drop a few coins in his cup every now and then. He was at the mercy of men, who probably thought of him as an eyesore and an inconvenience. But though he was blind, he recognized Hope. I’m sure he had heard of Jesus, and how this Jesus could make the blind see, and cause deaf ears to hear, and lame feet to walk. This Jesus wasn’t afraid to touch the leper or associate with the lower class citizen. But I’m sure that there was something else about the Man from Nazareth that caused Bartimaeus to act the way he did. When he heard that Jesus was near, he cried out persistently. Even when those around him discouraged him from doing so, (and I love this fierce attitude!) he cried out more! “Jesus, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me!” Was it just his physical cries that caused the Lord to stop in His tracks, or could He hear something else? Something that said, “I believe you are Hope”.  Jesus stood still….and then a funny thing happened. Those that had told him to be quiet, suddenly changed their tune. “This must be you lucky day, Bart! Get up! He’s calling you.” And old Bart flung aside what may have been his only possession, his only comfort, and came to Jesus. When we truly recognize our Hope, we find we don’t need the things of the world we once clung to, to sustain us. Jesus then asked the blind man this peculiar question, “What do you want me to do for you?” Funny thing to ask a blind man, but I believe a crucial part of the healing process is knowing what our true need is! There were many things Bart could have asked for, but he knew without a doubt that he wanted to see! “Oh Lord that I might see.” Jesus told him that his FAITH had made him whole. Was it the resistance to give in to the voices around him that said “be quiet”, or the throwing aside of the security blanket that healed him? Or maybe it was just believing that Jesus could do what he asked of Him? I’m not totally sure. But I do know that when we cry out He will stand still, and He will call for us! A faith in God, not in men or works or position, is what will cause Jesus to stand still for you.
